Suicidal Snowflakes

Just because I have a short attention span doesn\’t mean I…

God, get me a beer.

That’s what I think of when I hear “Gather Us In.” It’s like we’re ordering God around. Do this, do that. Gather these people, give us this, do that. Get me a beer while you’re in the kitchen.

There’s a huge difference between asking God for something (a humble heart and unity in the church are good things, mind you), and ordering God, and ordering with a sense of urgency on top of that. Give us this, do that… Not please give me xyz, or I think I need xyz, and I lay problem/request at your feet, because you are generous and know what’s best for me. If your answer is no, teach me to accept the no’s with the yesses.

It feels sort of cult-ish. Like you’re invoking the name of God, conjuring even, then trying to get him to do your bidding.

In conclusion: stupid people are dumb.
